Office 365, is suite of software products as a service. Our 11 step setup makes
the service easy to configure and run.. Office 365 reduces the IT costs for business of any size, and significantly reduces the need for an IT professional to manage the Office 365 services. Granted, this change with scale, but the requirements for a full time exchange administrator for business is no longer required. The administration center is clean and easy to use and the service just works. You have access to free technical support either via phone or electronically. But to get to that point, you need to install Office 365.
Earlier, we described how to migrate your business to Google docs. The primary difference between Google Docs and Office 365, is the concept of on premise. Google docs does not have an on premise solution, it only has a cloud solution, with limitation on security (please see Chapter 4). Office 365 is more flexible and allows either a cloud only solution or a hybrid solution that integrates Office 365 cloud security into the on premise exchange server.
There are two versions of Office 365: Professional and Enterprise. This chapter is focused on the Enterprise version. The Professional version of Office 365 is preconfigured based on focus group feedback for very small businesses and existing competitive products in the market place. There are significant restrictions with Office 365 professional. We do not recommend the Professional version for any business deployment, because if you need to request any administrator support, there is a service support fee, and the professional Office 365 service is preconfigured and limited.
Office 365 migration can be a complex and dauntless process. We have completed many migrations and reduce this down to these eleven steps listed below. These 11 steps address the issues for 90% of the business. The two most difficult parts are DNS Setup and historical email migration. We have performed many migrations from all different types of environment. The single most problem that we see is the customer’s lack of control over the DNS. Many our clients feel that they control DNS, but in reality, they do not. DNS servers are usually pointed to a third party hosting company. In the old days
Office 365 is very cost effective and is a powerful tool to improve productivity. Each of the three components of Office 365 is configurable:
- Hosted Exchange
- SharePoint (Team Site)
- Lync (Collaboration tool and web conferencing)
There are two versions of Office 365: Professional and Enterprise. KAMIND is
focused on providing services for the Enterprise version. The Professional version of Office 365 is preconfigured based on focus group feedback for very small businesses and existing competitive products in the market place. We do not recommend the Professional version for business deployment: support has a fee and the service is too limited.
